Figuring it out

A couple of weeks ago, I was frustrated with those teenagers (again)...
I went into the 15 year-old's room and said,

"Just who do you think YOU are?"

In which he responded, near tears: " That's what I am trying to figure out, MOM!"

HELLO...of course he is! (Put me in my place!)

Sometimes, we just need to be reminded.

All of us!

Winter Ball 2006

The boys went to the High School Winter Ball tonight. They are still there...I hope they are having fun!

Here is a picture of N and J with their little brother (A ), just before the girls came over.

J 's date, Brittney is wearing the champagne colored dress. N 's date, Cassie, is in black. I think they all looked great!

The limo picked them up...along with 16 other teenagers and they went out to dinner at Soparos (on the wharf). Then, after a drive along Cannery Row..they will go to the dance at the Conference Center. The after parties are still up in the air..I hope it is not a long and sleepless night! Enjoy the pictures! I have floors to pace! K

Tagged! YES!

What were you doing ten years ago?
Wow!Ten years ago, I had a 2 yr old, a 5 yr old and a 7 yr old. My life was busy! I was the PTA President at the elementary school, well on my way to be the 20th District PTA President (Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties!) I thought I could change the world! I was attending School Board meetings, city council meetings ... making great changes in the education of my children. I wasn't working outside of the home at this point and I thought "This is the life!"

Five snacks I enjoy:
1. Veggies and Dip
2. Chips
3. Ice Cream
4. Trail Mix
5. Cheese sticks
(OK I copied Stacey...they all fit)

Five things I would do if I were a millionaire:
1. Travel
2. Pay off my house
3. Remodel our house
4. Adopt a daughter (or two)
5. Pay for the best college educations money can buy for my children.

Five bad habits:
1. Picking at my face
2. Worrying about what other people think
3. Not answering emails/phone calls
4. Being a "know it all"
5. Snooping in my kids' business

Five things I like doing:
1. Spending time with my family.
2. Reading adoption blogs ( I am obsessed)
3. People watching
4.
5.

Five things I would never wear, buy, or get new again:
1. babydoll tops
2. bike shorts
3. high top tennis shoes (with the scrunchy socks)
4.
5.

Five favorite toys/games:
1. Laptop (wireless is the best!)
2. Cell phone
3. ipod
4. Fact or Crap!
5. poker

January 11 1986-Our Wedding Day!

here we are...ages 19 & 21~
Ready to start this new adventure!

This picture is taken right after we were pronounced Man and Wife! You can see my niece, peeking underneath my veil! My nephew is between R and his brother M . A was my maid of honor.

The picture to the right is the picture I love! Me and my Dad...He looked so handsome with that pink bowtie!

The day went by with a blur! Thank goodness for pictures! We don't have a video...they werent that popular in 1986 and I really didn't think I would want to watch it...a decision I regret!

The other night on our 20th anniversary, R took me to Tarpy's Roadhouse for dinner...what a treat! The food was delicious! It was nice to get spoiled! We had a nice evening but couldn't stay out late because of work the next day!

Speaking of...I better get back to work!

Happy 20th Anniversary to us!

20 years ago today, R and I said "I Do!"

We got married in 1986 at Cypress Community Church on Hwy 68 in Salinas at 11am. Our reception was at the Carmel Mission Inn in Carmel. It was a small wedding, only about 125 people (at the most). But it was just perfect for us! I love looking at the pictures of us and our loved ones...thinking about how much we have changed, yet how a lot of things have stayed the same.

Later, I will post some pics of the day. Until then, enjoy a picture of the church where we got married!

I am missing my Dad today. He passed away 7 years ago in March. (My parents were married 49 years!) I remember walking down the isle...he was sobbing but had a smile on his face. I dug my fingers into his arm..he thought I was nervous, but I was trying to let him know that everything would be OK! This tough guy never cried, a Fire Chief in Carmel for over 30 years, he would never let any of the firefighters see a weakness like crying! I wasn't sure if he was nervous about wearing the tux? Nervous about me getting married? I will never know, I never asked! I choose to believe that he was sad about letting his daughter go. I have a great picture of me and him dancing...we were both smiling and looking so happy!I will be sure to post it later.

Tonight, R and I will go on a "date". Those are rare lately. I told R that I do not want to know the plans... for once I want to be surprised! I love telling people that we have been married so long! You should see their expressions! 20 years of wedded bliss is quite a feat these days! Especially for young couples.

I better get back to work! (I have bills to pay!)

Thanks for listening! K

Welcome born 12-28-05, 5lbs, 7oz
Parents: Amber and Hoku in Seattle...
I can't wait to meet him!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

O.K. I really cannot stand Resolutions...
but I have resolved that I am really going to try to keep this online journal up to date!

My whole life, I was given diary after diary, journal after journal. They are all blank.

I have decided that it is time to change all of that.
Another thing...
I am a blog stalker. There I admit it.
As I laugh at all of the blogs I read, I am constantly reminded of really funny stories of my family life. Wouldn't it be nice to jot those stories down for my kids to read? O.K. not now, now it is my job (just ask them) to embarrass them and to not be cool. Whatever. I will tell them of this online journal when they are no longer teens.
If you have come along to read this online journal by accident...I hope not to bore you as I talk about the three boys I love so much and the husband I could not live without.
Welcome 2006!
